If you’re a competent grade 3/intermediate mountain biker and have an intermediate level of fitness, this is the Duke of Edinburgh Adventurous Journey for you! The Queen Charlotte Track is a stunning trail that winds its way for 71 kilometers up and around the Queen Charlotte Sound with some of New Zealand’s most stunning scenery!
We’ll be packing up our bikes, jumping on the ferry from Wellington on Friday morning, and riding off at Picton to jump on the Water Taxi out to the start point of the trail, Ships Cove. Over the next 3 days, we’ll be staying in tents, cooking our own food, and having a great time as we ride back to Anakiwa. The water taxi will pick us up from Anakiwa and drop us back to the ferry in Picton on Sunday afternoon to cruise back to Wellington on the late Sunday evening ferry!
A pre-trip training day will be arranged to get everyone up to speed on bike packing, gear lists, and trip planning. Participants are welcome to use this for their Practice of Qualifying journey.
