It’s about so much more than just being out on bikes
Ask any young person at WORD what they love most, and you'll get a different answer every time. It might be the first jump they cleared. The friend they met on a rainy Tuesday afternoon. The muddy high-five at pick-up. Or the assistant instructor who showed them the best line down the trail.
None of them will say, "I'm building confidence" or "I'm becoming more resilient."
But ask their parents, and that's exactly what they'll tell you.
At WORD, mountain biking is simply the vehicle. What we're really building is confidence, resilience, independence, friendships, and a genuine sense of belonging.
Through safe, high-quality coaching and adventure, our young people are encouraged to challenge themselves, celebrate their progress, support one another, and discover what they're capable of. Along the way, they develop lifelong skills, a love of the outdoors, and memories they'll never forget.
Most importantly, they have a serious amount of fun.

Got a 7–12 year old? We run after-school term programmes and holiday camps across Wellington. No experience needed.
What do you offer for teens?

WORD is a registered Adventure Activity Operator under WorkSafe New Zealand, one of the first organisations in the country to adopt and meet compliance on the Sport Integrity Code. We are home to some of the most highly trained youth mountain bike instructors in Aotearoa and have finely tuned safety management systems and training so your young person can grow and build confidence and come home stoked.
